ABOUT IAN
Ian Mark Clough was born November 21st, 1991 in Huntsville, Alabama. He attended Bob Jones High School in Madison, Alabama where he graduated in 2010. He was a recipient of the President’s Academic Scholarship at the University of Alabama where he graduated in 2014 magna cum laude with a degree in Business Management. During his undergraduate career Ian was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He continued his post-grad studies earning Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Operations Management.
Ian’s professional career began in 2016 as an associate consultant with Price Waterhouse Coopers. Within three years, he was promoted to Senior Associate working in Project Management. He was an extremely hard worker and was admired and respected by his colleagues and his Senior Partners.

Ian’s great passion was adventure and travel. He loved to plan travel itineraries which allowed him to see and experience the culture and lifestyle of the places he was visiting. He was also an adventurous traveler who sought out unique experiences such as an animal safari, where he saw the Big 5 game animals and cage diving with great white sharks in South Africa. While visiting Brazil, he planned an excursion to an Amazon River Eco Lodge where he stayed on a hut on the river and took nature hikes and boat treks with biologists. He visited Cuba where he retraced the steps of Hemingway and went to Sweden and Denmark to see the northern lights. In the Arctic Circle, he drove dog sleds, snow mobiles and stayed in an Ice Hotel. He loved to visit museums, historical sites, attend sporting events and meet local people on his journeys. He had recently started snowboarding and took a trip to Colorado as well as Banff National Park in Canada. He surfed in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Peru on his last trip and saw one the 7 Wonders of the World- Machu Picchu. By the age of 27, Ian had visited four continents, fifteen countries, and numerous destinations around the United States on his quest to see the world.

An avid sports enthusiast, a lifelong lover of the Crimson Tide, Ian had an affinity for all sports especially Alabama football. He was a passionate music lover and attended numerous live music events during his lifetime.
Ian passed away in a boating accident on July 13, 2019. He was extremely witty, clever, loyal, kind and loving. He is greatly missed, but will forever live in our hearts and memories. We hope that his passion for exploration will be passed on to others through this scholarship fund.
